“Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation” Anime Casts Its Sohoku Additions

On January 9th, Wataru Watanabe’s Yowamushi Pedal sports manga returns for a third TV anime, subtitled “New Generation.” After the second anime’s Inter-high Arc, corresponding with volume 27, the new anime will see what happens with the Sohoku High School cycling team after the third-year student’s veteran members graduate.  Joining the story for the 42nd Inter High Arc will be Sohoku High Bicycle Club first-years Kaburagi “Ikiri” Issa and Danchiku Ryuuhou – a duo known as “Team SS” when dominating the Chiba racing scene in junior-high. These two have now been cast.

Hiro Shimono (Berserk’s Isidro) voices the former while Wataru Hatano (Yuri!! On Ice’s Georgi Popovich) voices the latter.

Hakone Academy Bicycle Club will be looking to recapture the championship, and help might come from new 202㎝ (6’6″) tall ace-candidate Takuto Ashikiba (CV Mamoru Miyano – Death Note‘s Light, Bungo Stray Dogs’ Osamu Dazai).

Osamu Nabeshima is back directing the TMS production with Kurasumi Sunayama stepping up to write series composition and Yukiko Ban (DRAMAtical Murder Yowapeda‘s anime movie) on character design.

Opening “Cadence” performed by Natsuhiro Takaaki, known for his utaite cover song work.  The ending theme for the show, entitled “Now or Never”, will be performed by Saeki YouthK.
