Shinji Saijyo’s shonen cooking manga Iron Wok Jan ended in 2000, but it’s back for another helping almost two decades later.

The original Iron Wok Jan, which ran from 1995 to 2000 in Weekly Shonen Champion, followed protagonist Jan, a talented 16-year-old chef whose father was considered the “Master of Chinese Cuisine.” After the Master lost use of his tastebuds, he sent Jan to a Chinese restaurant called Gobanchou before committing suicide.

What are we to expect from this new series? According to the creator, the “food fight” will move on to a new generation. We’ll find out more when Iron Wok Jan 2nd!! premieres in the February issue of Monthly Dragon Age, available starting January 7.
