Crunchyroll – ScarJo Talks Up Live-Action “Ghost In The Shell”

The newly released issue of Empire magazine is presenting a feature on the live-action Ghost in the Shell, which they are hyping online with some quotes from the star of the Masamune Shirow manga/Mamoru Oshii anime adaptation, Scarlett Johansson.  She introduces the premise: “I’ve been a person without a body, now I’m a mind in a synthetic body. Eventually I’ll go back to playing a body and brain together.”

What’s getting more online attention is the excerpt where the star and director talk up the project:

“This is a ride that’s not just explosive and exciting, but also curious and reflective”, she says of the new film, which is being directed by Rupert Sanders. Drawing on material from across the franchise, Sanders also assured the magazine that “this isn’t the shit Hollywood version.”

And, speaking of the live GitS movie coming in March 2017, the WETA 1/4 scale Major and Geisha robot figures have been previewed.

Shipping in April, these figures are limited to 500 units and selling for 64,800yen each.
