Niconico Hosts Live “Nichijou” Marathon This Weekend

From January 7-8, Niconico will be re-airing the entirety of Nichijou – My Ordinary Life for its Japanese viewership.

The Kyoto Animation production, based on the manga of the same name by Keiichi Awari, follows the daily lives of schoolgirls Yuki, Mio, and Mai, as well as that of wind-up robot Nano and her eight-year-old owner The Professor. The plots alternated between slice-of-life and surreal, with stories ranging from studying for exams to alien encounters. The North American rights are currently held by Funimation.

Niconico’s stream will begin on January 7 at 8 PM JST and run into the following day. 4-5 episodes will be shown in a block, followed by a brief intermission after each. A (free) Niconico account is required to watch the stream, but bear in mind that the stream is also region-locked.

The decision to stream the show doesn’t appear to be attached to any major announcements at this time. However, Arawi is currently in the midst of writing and drawing CITY, a new manga that has been running in Morning magazine since late September.

Nichijou – My Ordinary Life is expected to be available on the Funimation website in the near future.
