“Yuri!!! On ICE” Blu-ray 1st Volume Sells 25,000 Units, Topping Anime Sales Chart


According to the latest Oricon sales report, the 7,560-yen (about 65 US dollars) first Blu-ray volume of the Yuri!!! On ICE TV anime sold 25,000 units in its first week, becoming the top-selling anime Blu-ray of the week (ranked 2nd in the overall ranking, only behind “Clip! Smap! Complete Singles” with 189,000 units). Its 7,020-yen DVD also sold 11,000 units, ranking 3rd in the anime chart and 5th in the overall chart.  

 

The first DVD and Blu-ray containing the anime’s first two episodes were released in Japan on December 30, 2016. Both sets also include an advance entry coupon for the upcoming special event to be held at Maihama Amphi Theater in Chiba Prefecture on April 29. 

 

MAPPA’s figure skating-themed original TV anime was aired for 12 episodes from October to December of 2016. It was overwhelmingly welcomed by anime fans in Japan and abroad, and was selected

as one of the most popular TV anime series of 2016 in various online polls.
