Die-Cast Car Toyline Inspires “Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head” TV Anime

Tomica, a line of die-cast model cars produced by Japanese toy giant Takara Tomy, has inspired the creation of a new Saturday morning children’s anime entitled Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head – Kidō Kyūkyū Keisatsu (“Mobile Emergency Police”). This marks the 1st Tomica-based animation since the toy line’s inception in 1970.

Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head will be animated by OLM, Inc. (Pokémon, Yo-Kai Watch). The story revolves around a group of grade school students who pilot “Drive Heads” – special transforming emergency vehicles – to protect their hometown from accidents and disasters.

Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head will debut on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) and 28 affiliate networks beginning in April of 3017. The series will air during the 7:00 AM JST time slot. New toy lines featuring the characters and the transforming “Drive Heads” are also planned.
