Developer Yacht Club Games is still working hard on Shovel Knight, and there are some big plans in store this year. Chief among them is the announcement that the newly-titled Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove and Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment are coming to Nintendo Switch.
While Yacht Club didn’t have time to go into what exactly Treasure Trove entails, it sounds like it’s going to include the main game, now officially called Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope, along with the content that’s come out since. Body Swap Mode is also complete and will be coming to the campaign when Specter of Torment launches, and local two-player co-op is coming as a free update to all consoles and PC (not including 3DS and PS Vita), so you can keep that amiibo on the shelf.
Once Treasure Trove launches, you’ll also be able to purchase each separate campaign as a standalone game on PS4, Xbox One, PC/Mac/Linux, and Switch. All current owners of Shovel Knight will be upgraded to Treasure Trove and will keep getting the planned free campaigns and features as updates, and if you don’t already own the game you should grab it soon. This spring, the price of the full game will be raised thanks to all the additional content.
Beyond that, we also have King Knight’s campaign and four-player battle mode in store for 2017. You can read more about the plans in Yacht Club’s blog entry.
