Tokyo Olympic Committee Appoints Shokotan as Member of Mascot Selection Council


On January 12, The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced the 14 members of the Mascot Selection Examination Council to discuss how to choose the official mascot for the event to be held in 2020, and 31-year-old otaku idol Shoko Nakagawa, aka Shokotan, is confirmed to be included in the lineup. She is known for her love of anime and manga, and has joined in various anime and tokusatsu series as a singer, actress and voice actress.  

 

The council is going to hold about six meetings and its first one will be set on January 17. Their suggestion for the selection process for the official mascot will be submitted to the International Olympic Committee by the end of March.
