While it was nice seeing Goichi Suda, AKA Suda51, representing Grasshopper Manufacture at the Nintendo Switch press conference, he didn’t reveal too much in the process. What we got was some art of No More Heroes protagonist Travis Touchdown—which has been confirmed as an illustration by NMH character designer Yuusuke Kozaki—and a whole lot of enthusiasm from Suda.
Since then, the Grasshopper creative director spoke to 4Gamer and clarified a few interesting tidbits. First of all, he mentioned that he completely forgot to say that this project won’t be a port of previous games. It’s a new title, but he still can’t say that it’s definitely No More Heroes 3.
Suda is writing the story himself, and is handling direction for the first time in a decade. He hasn’t actually written the exact plot yet, but he’s got the overall picture down. Since they know the direction of the design, development is about to begin.
Even though this year marks the 10th anniversary of No More Heroes, don’t get your hopes up for a 2017 launch. Suda says it won’t be coming out this year, so we’ll have to hang on for more details.
