Takashi Miike Helms New Tokusatsu TV Series for Girls, “Idol x Warrior Miracle Tunes!”

While busy working on the upcoming JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable and Blade of the Immortal live-action films, 56-year-old Takashi Miike, well-known for his ability to make a film on any subject, is confirmed to helm a new tokusatsu TV series for girls, Idol x Warrior Miracle Tunes!, for an April 2017 premiere on TV Tokyo. He serves as the general director for the series, and also directing some episodes, along with Yoshitaka Yamaguchi (Nekozamurai), Takeshi Yokoi (Takumi-kun series 2-5), Kenichiro Nishiumi (Higanjima), and Ryusuke Kurafahsi (Terra Formars assistant director).

The show’s three main actresses, Asaka Uchida (Kanon Ichinose), Suzuka Adachi (Mai Kanzaki), and Yuzuka Oda (Fuuka Tachibana) were chosen from the audition held via Shogakukan’s monthly shoujo manga magazines, Ciao and Pucchigumi. Kanon, Mai, and Fuuka are originally the members of idol unit miracle² (Miracle Miracle), but have to transform into the Idol Warrior Miracle Tunes to stop the Devil’s attempt to conquer the world.
