The official website for the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Tatsunoko Production’s classic sci-fi action hero TV anime series Hurricane Polimar today released a four-minute featurette including an interview with the director Koichi Sakamoto, who is best known for his directorial works for the recent Heisei Kamen Rider (Fourze, Ghost, Ex-Aid), Super Sentai (Gokaiger, Kyoryuger), and Ultraman (Ginga S, X) series. He also joined the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series in the US as a stunt coordinator, director, and producer from 1995 to 2014.
In the video, with highlights from the film, he explains how he tried to recreate the the essence of the original anime for both the fans of the anime in the 1970s and the modern-day audience. The 27-year-old Junpei Mizobata-starring film will be distributed by Kadokawa from May 13, 2017.
